Downtown Newark Street Trees Inventory

In partnership with the Office of Sustainability at the City of Newark, I worked on the Green Street Initiative, a program aimed at building community resilience through greening projects and disaster preparedness education.

I created an inventory of street trees in Downtown Newark, assessing their health, specifications, and the condition of their tree pits. I developed a survey to collect data, plotted the trees using ArcGIS, and imported the information into the i-Tree platform.

The NDD uses this data to maintain and manage the District’s street trees. This ongoing collaboration has expanded from assessing 485 downtown trees in 2018 to 1,992 street trees in 2024.
